Artist Statement: This mural is a tribute to Queen Teuta of Illyria 231 BCE, an ancient ruler whose power rippled across seas and centuries. Often remembered through the distorted lens of her adversaries, I wanted to reimagine her story with reverence and depth.

I painted her as a symbol of fierce femininity, sovereignty, and elemental strength surrounded by motifs that echo the sea she once commanded and the fire she carried within. Through this work, I hope to reclaim her legacy and invite viewers to reflect on the stories we inherit, the voices we silence, and the power that endures through time.
